India has
many natural water resources though some parts of the nation faces scarcity of
water. canals, rivers, lakes, dams form inland water resources. the Indian
water resources are key water resources. the fundamental human requirement and a
value asset for the nation.
What do you think about this precious resource?
I do agree that India has many water resources and they are essential in the daily lives of the Indian nationals. I have been to Kerala two years back and i experienced the backwaters. The Keralites depend so much on the canals as the main source of transportation and daily use. I see the importance of these water sources. however, I have always been wanting to know, there are some places in India where i have read that the rivers are badly polluted. Is it true? if so what steps are taken to overcome this problem. We too have polluted rivers and some steps are taken to clean the rivers up. However, many of the plans have not been very successful.
ReplyDeleteYes it is true that not only some places but almost places of water resources are badly polluted. Here is one example of our holy river The Ganga, a symbol of religious and spiritual faith of India, is one of the most polluted rivers in India today. Not only untreated sewage is dumped but also toxic waste from hospitals and tanneries is thrown into it.
DeleteA study conducted by the Uttarakhand Environment Protection and Pollution Control Board (UEPPCB) slotted river water into four categories: A — being fit for drinking, B — for bathing, C — for agriculture and D — for excessive pollution level. However, Ganga’s was given a definite D, he further added.
Many steps have taken but results are always a bad figure.
This is for our students that tell us what should we do to save our precious resources.

On seeing this we can clearly say that human demand for water is really high, and it is increasing.....
So here is a list of things which we can do to sustain this precious life resource.
Use waste water obtained while washing clothes to clean the floor.
Install small shower heads to reduce the flow of water.
Do not leave the tap running while washing the dishes in the kitchen.
Avoid leakage of water from the taps.
Turn the tap off when not in use especially when you brush your teeth or wash clothes.
Never throw the water unnecessary on roads which can be used for gardening and cleaning.
Use minimum amount of water to bath and avoid the use of showers.
Water your lawn only when it is needed.
These simple steps, if followed can increase the availability of water for thousands of years.
Hope our collaboration will make a change.
